My first time writing "farewell" emails for work

Thursday, August 23, 2012
So, I've spent ALL morning drafting up "farewell" emails to send out next week to customers and vendors whom I've worked closely with in the past 4 years that I've been with Take Five Trading. Wow, I never knew how difficult this task would be!

Of course, for all things that I don't really know how to do, I always turn to GOOGLE! I google'd "how to write a farewell letter to clients" and these are some examples of what came up:

Oh how I love GOOGLE! I used a combination of these examples to compose my own letters. To most of my customers and vendors, they are going to get a generic email...straight forward and to the point. For my customers whom I've developed a great relationship with, they are going to get a more fun and casual email! They know my "email personality" so I'm sure they'd appreciate a more personal touch to my email rather than a generic one.

I know once I start composing the ones that I have to write to my awesome co-workers and boss, I'd probably start to tear up. I'm such a baby! Ugh! LOL! I'll probably leave those to do in the privacy of my own bedroom so that no one at the office has to see me cry. All the guys would probably freak out if they saw me balling my eyes out. Haha!

Anyways, this was definitely an interesting first experience having to write these kinds of letters. How many of you have had the opportunity to do this before? For me, it's a bitter sweet kinda moment I guess. I'm sure it'd be much easier if it were for a job I hated. Hopefully this will be the first and last time I have to write such a letter!

My first daily deal coupons for Calgary

Tuesday, August 14, 2012
As most of you already know, I'm a bit of a daily deal coupon addict. I subscribe to every and all daily deal websites such as Groupon, LivingSocial, WagJag, Dealathon, etc...You name it, I subscribe to it!

As part of my preparation for moving to Calgary, I started switching over all my daily deal subscriptions to my new city! Now, I get really excited to see Calgary deals landing in my inbox.

My very first deal that I bought was for Izumi Sushi from Groupon. According to Yelp.ca, it got good reviews (4 out of 5 stars). The deal was $20 for $40 worth of food and valid only for dinner. Pretty standard for a Groupon deal. Looking forward to trying this out with Justin on a date night or something.

My second deal that I bought was for a bootcamp class. I am determined to keep up with my exercise routine so bootcamp deals were on my radar! I managed to get a great deal from Groupon again. $20 for 20 bootcamp classes! That's a dollar a class! This was how I got started with my bootcamp in Richmond (Russel Sean Fitness), and I liked it so much that I bought a package at regular price! At a dollar a class, even if I end up not liking it, at least I didn't waste $100+ on a package. This bootcamp is called FitBody Bootcamp and according to Justin, it's about a 15 min drive from his parents place where we're staying. I'm excited to attend my first class once I move out there.

My third deal that I've purchased so far is for Los Chilitos Taco and Tequila House from Living Social. It is $15 for $30 worth of food for brunch (11am-3pm). According to Yelp.ca, Los Chilitos is one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Calgary! Justin and I love our Mexican food, so when I saw this deal, I knew I had to get it.

I have a feeling that this is how Justin and I will be discovering new favourite restaurants in Calgary...via daily deal coupons!

I'm still on the lookout for a good Hot Yoga coupon knowing that I'll probably be craving some heat once the weather starts to cool down. I'd also love to find a good spa coupon for massage, facial, mani and pedi. Hopefully there will be some good deals to be had!

Anyways, that's it for my second blog post ever! The next one will probably be about me packing up my stuff. Stay tuned for the next post!

My first blog post and sending the BF off...

Tuesday, August 7, 2012
Hello!

Wow, this is weird...I'm actually writing a blog post! Let's just say that this is an extremely NEW venture for me. As most of you know, I've never had the desire to start a blog until now. Since I'll be away from all of you very soon, I've developed an urge to keep everyone updated with mine and Justin's new life in Calgary. So, it starts HERE I guess! =)

I'm just going to think of these posts as emails or IM chats to all of you. So we can throw grammar and some spelling out the window now coz you know that my casual correspondence are usually improper. But if you'd like to make fun of my grammar and spelling, please do so in the comments so that I know you guys are actually reading my blog posts! haha!

Anyways, so Justin took off for Calgary yesterday (Aug 6, 2012) in his new ride: Toyota FJ Cruiser

Nice eh? Yup, he's leaving his beloved VW GTI in the garage and will be driving this monster around in Calgary. How fitting for Calgary driving, don't you think?! It's actually the "company" car that his parents are letting us use to get around in Calgary. Insurance and gas paid for as well since it's a company car. Yay! We'll be taking my handy-dandy Nissan Versa with us, but I think we'll be driving the FJ around more often. I'm pretty stoked...and I'm sure you can tell that Justin is too! Can't wait to take this thing off-roading! LOL! J/K!

It took Justin and his parents about 11-12 hours yesterday to drive from Burnaby to Calgary. He said that there was crazy traffic on the highway from the long weekend. So bad that they were at standstills for a few spots! I hope we don't run into that kind of traffic when we drive after Labour Day long weekend. He also encountered a crazy lightning show. Here's his Instagram pic:

Apparently that happens lots in Calgary. He mentioned that with Calgary's big sky, we'd also experience the Northern Lights once in a while! How awesome is that! I guess that's what you get when you live in the mid-west. I promise to take photos of that if I ever get the experience it. Supposedly it happens between September and April.

So yes, I will be without boyfriend until Aug 30 when he flies back to Vancouver for Leo and Cat's wedding that weekend. This is the longest we've been apart I believe! Not like we see each other that often anyways when we are in the same city, but still...I'll miss the guy lots! But that means I'll have lots of time to hang out with my family and friends before I leave, so make sure to hit me up for a dinner/lunch/hangout date! =)

Well, that is all for my first post! Woohoo! Your feedback is always welcome, so please comment and let me know if you like the blog or not. Let me know what you think of the colours too. I kinda like the super girly-ness of this template. I feel like it's ME, but if you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear them! Also, if you have any blog post ideas, send me a quick email or something. I'm accepting all ideas right now. Alrighty, well, thanks for reading! Till my next post...
